Gritters geared up in East Sussex

Gritters parked up GRITTERS will be running their routes across the county next week to ensure they are geared up for the cold winter months.

On Friday, September 19, 21 gritters will be travelling along the most heavily used roads as part of the annual Operation Snowdrop, when East Sussex Highways fine-tunes its response to wintry weather.

Trial pits will help shape town improvement scheme

Historic archive safeguarded for the future

Battle Abbey archives - Part of the grant by Henry VIII to Sir Anthony Browne of the dissolved Abbey of Battle and its lands in 1538, including a decorative letter H depicting the kingA TREASURE trove of documents relating to one of England’s most historic sites will stay in public ownership permanently.

The Battle Abbey Estate Archive has been allocated to East Sussex County Council to be preserved by the county’s record office, based at The Keep archive and resource centre. Continue reading →
