Devolution and mayoral election plans move forward

LEADERS have welcomed approval of their plans to collaborate in a single strategic authority for Sussex with a directly elected mayor.

The government has agreed to move forward with a Mayoral Combined County Authority (MCCA) and confirmed the first mayoral election will take place in May 2026.

Work on A22 finishes ahead of schedule

Gerhard Rink, project manager for Colas, with Cllr Carl Maynard, East Sussex County Council lead member for transport and environment, at the resurfaced A22 Golden Jubilee Way in EastbourneWORK on resurfacing a dual carriageway in Eastbourne is finishing more than three weeks ahead of schedule.

The A22 Golden Jubilee Way fully reopens at 4.30pm on Wednesday, May 21 2014 after the work was completed in half the seven-week period scheduled for the job. Continue reading →
