Free slippers giveaway at fall prevention events

RESIDENTS in East Sussex can pick up a free pair of non-slip slippers at events to mark Falls Prevention Awareness Week, which runs between September 15 and 19.

Public Health bosses at East Sussex County Council are running four public events to share advice on how older people can improve their balance with regular exercises, and hand out the free footwear to those attending. Continue reading →

Fine for shopkeeper who sold illegal tobacco

smokingetiquetteA SHOPKEEPER who sold a packet of smuggled tobacco to Trading Standards officers in Eastbourne has been handed a £200 fine.

During a test purchase at the now closed Convenience Store in Brassey Parade in October 2013, Ako Mohammed sold a single packet of rolling tobacco that did not carry the required warnings. Continue reading →
