Devolution and mayoral election plans move forward

LEADERS have welcomed approval of their plans to collaborate in a single strategic authority for Sussex with a directly elected mayor.

The government has agreed to move forward with a Mayoral Combined County Authority (MCCA) and confirmed the first mayoral election will take place in May 2026.

Gold accolade for young people from East Sussex

DofE Gold Awards Eastbourne & BattleYOUNG people from East Sussex have set the gold standard after receiving the highest possible accolade under a youth achievement scheme.

Storm clean up operation continues around East Sussex

A major clean up operation is underway after heavy rain and strong winds caused chaos around the county.
