ROADS across East Sussex are getting a summer makeover as this year’s surface dressing programme gets underway.
East Sussex Highways will treat 28 miles of rural and urban roads across the county, roughly the distance from County Hall in Lewes to Hastings Pier.
AN INNOVATIVE education website has been launched for the Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) Community and teaching professionals.
The new website, The Stopping Place, has been designed to improve the educational experience of GRT families in East Sussex.
A HISTORICAL fantasy set in a magical mash-up of Georgian and Elizabethan Britain has been announced as the winner of this year’s East Sussex Children’s Book Award.
The Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant claimed top prize at a celebration event attended by nearly 200 school children.
Local children’s author Ed Boxall hosted the event which was held at The Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne last month.
MORE children and young people will benefit from free activities and nutritious food this summer as the popular Holiday Food and Fun programme is expanded.
Additional funding from the Department for Education will enable the council’s Holiday Food and Fun scheme to run an extra 2,000 activity sessions in East Sussex during the summer school holidays.
