Library plans on display at open days

Cllr Chris DowlingVISITORS can get a sneak peek at exciting new plans to provide Hastings with an improved and enhanced library at two open days next month.

The Brassey Institute will be open to the public on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3, to enable visitors to view latest plans and talk to East Sussex County Council staff and the architect about how the building will be used. Continue reading

New plan for ‘first class’ library and registration service

Cllr Chris DowlingHASTINGS Register Office will relocate to the historic Town Hall after a revised plan for library and registration services in the town was approved by councillors.

The East Sussex County Council-run registration service will move from its current base in Bohemia Road, replacing a previous plan for it to relocate next to the existing Hastings Library, in Claremont. Continue reading

Record breaking book challenge comes to East Sussex

LibraryBooksYOUNG book fans can be part of a world record attempt by taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge 2015.

East Sussex County Council is encouraging four to 11 year olds to sign up for the annual event by borrowing books from their local library. This year’s challenge follows the theme of record breaking and is being run in partnership with Guinness World Records. Continue reading
