Free slippers giveaway at fall prevention events

RESIDENTS in East Sussex can pick up a free pair of non-slip slippers at events to mark Falls Prevention Awareness Week, which runs between September 15 and 19.

Public Health bosses at East Sussex County Council are running four public events to share advice on how older people can improve their balance with regular exercises, and hand out the free footwear to those attending. Continue reading →

Hailsham scheme transforms town centre

Work concluded on Hailsham town centre improvement schemeTHE finishing touches have been made to a £2.85 million improvement scheme in Hailsham town centre.

Leaders welcome cross-channel ferry route contract

A NEW contract securing the future of the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry service has been welcomed by council leaders.

Transmanche ferries will continue to make the 1,690 crossings each year after owners Syndicat Mixte de Promotion de l’Activité Transmanche (SMPAT) awarded the five-year contract to current operator DFDS, starting from 1 January 2018. Continue reading →
