Support for children in need praised by Ofsted

COUNCIL leaders have welcomed a report that found children in need of additional support or at risk in East Sussex have access to services that makes a positive difference to their lives.

A focussed inspection of arrangements for children in need and child protection planning also found that continued investment in services for vulnerable children and a “relentless focus” on supporting social workers and staff was helping to drive ongoing improvement in the lives of children and families. Savings plan to be discussed by county’s Cabinet

Gritters ready to roll when winter strikes

Preparing for winter - some of East Sussex's gritters are put through their paces at Ringmer Depot as part of Operation SnowdropEAST Sussex’s fleet of gritters has been hitting the county’s roads as it gears up for the onset of winter.

In a two-day initiative dubbed ‘Operation Snowdop’, gritters were thoroughly checked and sent out on a dummy run of gritting routes around the county to test their readiness for wintery weather. Continue reading →
