Events celebrate the role of older people

INTERACTIVE music sessions, day trips and lunch clubs are among a series of events to celebrate the role older people play in improving communities and the lives of local people.

Following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the 14th annual Older People’s Day programme – which coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons on October 1, will provide a mix of free and paid for in person activities and virtual events open to the 50 plus age group. Continue reading

Council appoints new provider for refuge services

Clarion Housing Association has been awarded the contract for the provision of refuge services across East Sussex.

From November 1, 2021 Clarion will provide specialist support in 47 units of safe accommodation across the county for women experiencing domestic abuse and violence, and their children. Within a year of the contract starting, this provision will increase to 56 units to include anybody experiencing domestic abuse.

Project tackling drug issues showing promising results

A PROJECT aimed at tackling drug misuse and cutting drug-related crime is starting to show promising results in Hastings.

Led by East Sussex County Council and Sussex Police, Project ADDER combines additional and targeted policing with enhanced treatment and recovery services to address the town’s high rate of drug deaths and heroin and crack cocaine use. Continue reading
