Book amnesty sees hundreds of titles returned
HUNDREDS of overdue books have been returned to East Sussex libraries following a successful seven-week book amnesty earlier this year.
During the amnesty, which ran from Monday, February 13 to Friday, March 31, over 750 lost books were returned and 240 of those previously lost books were re-loaned out to new customers.
New app will support volunteering opportunities
THE CONTRIBUTION of volunteers is being celebrated with the development of an app to make it easier for people to find opportunities.
East Sussex County Council is working with The Tribe Project on an initiative to boost community involvement across the county and support voluntary organisations in finding the right volunteers for the right roles.
The app, currently in development, will help support the work of Rother Voluntary Action (RVA), Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA) and Wealden, Eastbourne, and Lewes Voluntary Action (3VA).
Million-pound boost for active travel
WALKING, wheeling and cycling schemes in East Sussex have been given a £1.22 million boost thanks to Government funding.
East Sussex County Council successfully applied for Active Travel England’s Active Travel Fund 4 to support schemes that encourage people to become more active and help reduce carbon emissions. Continue reading
