Battle Library reopens after major revamp

Battle Library in East Sussex has reopened to the public after a total refurbishment.

The nine week modernisation scheme has seen the library in Market Square completely redecorated and fitted with new carpets, lighting, furniture and shelving, as well as self-service facilities, a new display area and space for community events.  New desks provide laptop and USB plug-in spots. Delay to reopening of Hastings Library

A new corbel stone which will replace the existing, degraded stone at the front of Hastings Library as part of a complete revamp of the Grade II listed buildingHASTINGS Library will reopen later than expected – to give contractors more time to protect the fabric of the historic building.

The library, in Claremont, has been closed since February last year for a complete revamp. The finished building will also house the children’s library, which is currently based in Robertson Passage. Continue reading
