Annual report highlights successes and challenges

100 years on – story of Kipling’s lost son is retold

John Kipling. son of Rudyard Kipling, was killed in the First World WarTHE tragic tale of the son of an East Sussex literary giant is the latest addition to a website documenting the impact of the First World War in the county.

Rudyard Kipling’s only son, John, a lieutenant in the Irish Guards, was killed aged 18 during the Battle of Loos, in northern France, on September 27 1915. Continue reading →

Latest phase of Eastbourne cycle route

Work is beginning on the next phase of the Horsey way cycle route, in EastbourneWORK is about to begin on the latest phase of a cycle and pedestrian route in Eastbourne.

New track gives sporting chance to Sussex athletes

Cllr David ElkinAN athletics track in Lewes is being given a new lease of life thanks to a major refurbishment.

The 400m track, in Mountfield Road, was installed in 1999 and after years of use was in need of repair and resurfacing. Continue reading →
