Campaign to help smokers in Hastings find happiness

AN AWARENESS campaign designed to dispel a common myth that smoking is a way to relieve stress is hitting Hastings in the new year.

Representatives of South East Smokefree Alliance (SESA) will be at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Tuesday, January 6, to talk to shoppers about wellbeing, and the link between quitting smoking and feeling better. Continue reading →

Help shape future health and wellbeing services

escc logoMEMBERS of the public are being encouraged to share their views on proposed changes to One You East Sussex, the integrated health and wellbeing service for people living in the county.

The council is considering changing how the service supports residents when the current contract ends in March 2024.

East Sussex marks anniversary of Ukraine invasion

Ukraine flag with hands clasped in front THE UKRAINIAN flag will be raised at County Hall in Lewes on Friday, February 24 in solidarity with the people of Ukraine as the county marks the anniversary of the Russian invasion.

At 11am the council will join the national one-minute silence to commemorate one year since the start of the war.

Exceat Bridge lights under threat from vandalism

A SPATE of vandalism is jeopardising the future of temporary traffic lights at Exceat Bridge.

The lights were put in place in March 2021 to ease congestion on the key coastal route between Seaford and Eastbourne while East Sussex County Council works on a permanent solution. Continue reading →

Help East Sussex libraries find lost books

shelves of books in a libraryA BOOK amnesty is being held in libraries across the county to recover missing library books.

Almost 5,000 books a year are not returned to East Sussex libraries, and residents are being asked to check their bookshelves, behind the sofa and under the bed to see if they have any overdue titles.
