Remembering the first Hastings Pier fire – 100 years on

Almost a century before the 2010 fire which devastated the Victorian structure, the pier suffered severe damage in a lesser-known blaze believed to have been sparked by a discarded cigarette. Continue reading

Battle Library reopens after major revamp

Battle Library in East Sussex has reopened to the public after a total refurbishment.

The nine week modernisation scheme has seen the library in Market Square completely redecorated and fitted with new carpets, lighting, furniture and shelving, as well as self-service facilities, a new display area and space for community events.  New desks provide laptop and USB plug-in spots.
